Dear Eagle Scouts,
For future communications among ourselves, I've discussed and researched with Richard Chia and we'd like it done this way, in which case you should expect some messages to come your way for guidance and follow ups from either of us, as joint moderators :
Everyone uses Eagle Link Yahoo group for :
(1) Sending of emails to the group or members of the group (Of course traditional emailing
methods is still an option available to all)
(2) Discussion threads within the group to organise events, etc
(3) Sending of event reports and pictures to the group or members of the group in a way
whereby it will not bomb out your mailbox storage
Everyone uses the Eagle Link Community Blog as a 'Bulletin Board', for current members and new members, where the latter can easily view back what was not received earlier :
(1) Posting of articles, reports and pictures from events or contributions on common interests (2) Entry of comments to the above
(3) Tracing and viewing of the above
Once this works out well, it can be pre-cursor for a multi-generational networking group or community, for use by all of us and families and an easy way for us to continue to keep in touch. Moreover, remember we have people from all kinds of professions, except the vices perhaps !
For those who missed out on my email with the pictures from Dec 18th Dinner, please follow Colin's instructions below :
"You can access them by going to the Gmail log-in screen at http://www.gmail.com/ and then logging with my account and password as follows: user name: colin.gudang password: gudang The pictures are in 3 messages in the Inbox: dinner, family member, group photo. If you want any or all, just RIGHT click on them and save the file as per instructions on the screen."
My subsequent visions are to keep everyone's information (i.e. h/p numbers) on handphones so we really have a 'red alert' system (remember ?) and perhaps one day we'll be able to video conference globally.
I've emailed latest contact information of everyone for your use, Richard, please use this latest list to start off the Yahoo group and the subsequent emailed guidance and instructions to all. For the Blog, I've re-attached the Blog manual for reference and follow up by those who have yet to register into and use it. Existing as well as new members who have not joined the Blog will receive an invitation to join it.
The Eagle Link Community Blog URL is as below
http://eaglelink.blogspot.com/
As for the Yahoo group, you can expect some emails from Richard Chia for your follow up and guidance on how to use it for the tasks mentioned above.
For those whose rows as per emailed contact information file are still blank, do send your details to me so that I can update the file and it'll be easier to contact you for future events like the planned outdoor trip, probably in Feb 2006. Meanwhile, more ex-Eagle Scouts are continuing to roll in so we'll keep everyone posted here.
Regards
Ong Chin Kee

Many thanks to Richard Chia for setting up the following as
email groups
eaglelink@egroups.com or
eaglelink@yahoogroups.com
and the following as email web-site for email retrievals
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/eaglelink
You should have received an email from Richard explaining it's
usage. With regards to membership of these groups, do let either Richard or Chin Kee know if there's any more to be roped in, so we can include them in these email groups as well as the Blog.
As for the 'Eagle Link Community' Blog, the 'URL is as below :
http://eaglelink.blogspot.com
For purpose of clarifying usage of the email groups, email web-site and Blog, we'll summarise their usage as below, whereby membership of both groups would be updated by Chin Kee (for the Blog) or Richard Chia (for the email groups).
Everyone uses the email group or email web-site for emailing
purposes, whereby the latter can be used by new members to view past emails, for :
(1) Sending of emails to the group (Of course traditional emailing methods is still an option available to all)
(2) Emailed discussion threads within the group to organise events, discuss issues, etc
(3) Sending of emailed event reports and pictures to the group in a way whereby it will not bomb out your mailbox storage
(4) Retrieval of past emails, by current and new members
Everyone uses the Eagle Link Community Blog as a 'Bulletin
Board', for current members and new members, where the latter can easily view back what was not received earlier, for :
(1) Posting of articles, reports and pictures from events or contributions on common interests
(2) Entry of comments to the above
(3) Tracing and viewing of the above, for current and new members
Complete contact information of members will continue to be
separately updated by Chin Kee on the Excel sheet which has been emailed to you, based on your updates to him via 'Plaxo' software or by emails.
Best regards and a Happy New Year to everyone !
Ong Chin Kee
